Escorts Kubota launches PRO588i-G harvester to stop stubble burning, boost farmer profits, protect soil health, and improve Basmati grain quality in Punjab and Haryana.

Key Highlights:

Escorts Kubota Limited has introduced its latest PRO588i-G combine harvester, designed to help farmers in Punjab and Haryana manage crop residue without burning it, while improving rice harvesting efficiency.

A Step Towards Reducing Stubble Burning

The new harvester is aimed at tackling the severe issue of stubble burning, which contributes significantly to air pollution in North India during the harvest season. Instead of cutting crops higher up like traditional machines, the PRO588i-G cuts stalks close to the ground, allowing farmers to collect the full length of straw. This straw can then be used as cattle feed or supplied to biomass plants, giving farmers an additional source of income while preventing air pollution.

Advanced Japanese Technology for Basmati Rice

One of the major highlights of the PRO588i-G is its Japanese-developed threshing mechanism. This advanced system reduces breakage of Basmati rice grains during harvesting – a problem that has long impacted the quality, market value, and export potential of this premium rice variety.

Lightweight and Soil-Friendly Design

Weighing just 2,700 kg, the harvester is significantly lighter than conventional models that usually weigh around 9,000 kg. This reduced weight helps minimize soil compaction, which can lower the cost of land preparation for the next crop cycle. Additionally, the machine is equipped with crawler tracks, making it suitable for use even in wet field conditions.

Company Leaders Highlight Benefits

Nikhil Nanda, Chairman and Managing Director of Escorts Kubota Limited, said,

“Our new Kubota combine harvester offers more profit potential to farmers and can help address air pollution in North India.”

Akira Kato, Deputy Managing Director, added that the launch aligns with the company’s precision farming strategy, aimed at increasing productivity while meeting sustainability goals.

Addressing North India’s Air Pollution

Stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana has been one of the major contributors to air pollution in the Delhi-NCR region. The launch of the PRO588i-G is seen as a step forward in promoting eco-friendly farming practices while also boosting farmer profitability.
