The Rajasthan government has once again provided major relief to households under the Chief Minister’s Cooking Gas Subsidy Scheme. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, a subsidy amount of ₹75.68 crore has been transferred directly to beneficiaries bank accounts for 30.10 lakh LPG gas cylinders.
With this support, eligible women are now getting LPG cylinders for just ₹450, helping families manage rising household expenses during inflation.
The Chief Minister’s LPG Subsidy Scheme is a welfare initiative of the Rajasthan government aimed at providing affordable cooking gas to poor, middle-class, and needy families.
Under this scheme, women beneficiaries purchase an LPG cylinder at the market price first. After the purchase, the subsidy amount is transferred directly to their bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). This system ensures transparency and timely financial support.
At present, the market price of a domestic LPG cylinder is around ₹900 to ₹950, depending on the district and delivery charges.
Under this scheme, the government pays the difference between the market price and ₹450 as a subsidy.
Example:
Cylinder price: ₹950
Amount paid by beneficiary: ₹450
Subsidy credited to bank account: ₹500
This makes the final cost of one LPG cylinder ₹450 for eligible women.
When refilling the cylinder, beneficiaries need to pay the refill amount set by gas companies such as Indian Oil (Indane), Bharat Gas, or HP Gas. This refill cost generally starts from ₹900 and above.
After the refill, the state government transfers the fixed subsidy amount directly to the beneficiary’s bank account, bringing the effective cost down to ₹450 per cylinder.
Beneficiaries can check whether the LPG subsidy has been credited to their account through the following methods:
Check the DBT entry in the bank passbook or mobile banking app
Visit the official website of Indane, Bharat Gas, or HP Gas and check subsidy status
Check SMS alerts received on the Aadhaar-linked bank account
Visit the nearest e-Mitra centre for assistance
The subsidy amount is usually credited within a few days after the cylinder refill.
The scheme offers several important benefits to women and families, including:
Significant reduction in monthly cooking expenses
Relief from the burden of expensive LPG cylinders
Reduced dependence on firewood and traditional fuels
Improved health due to the use of clean cooking fuel
Positive impact on the environment by reducing pollution
The benefit of the scheme is available only to eligible women who:
Have an LPG connection under the Ujjwala Yojana or Food Security Scheme
Belong to families covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA)
Meet the eligibility criteria set by the Rajasthan state government
Only verified beneficiaries under these categories receive the subsidy.
According to the state government, this scheme is not just about providing financial relief. Its larger goal is to economically empower women and ensure clean cooking fuel for every household.
The transfer of subsidies on more than 30 lakh gas cylinders shows that the benefits of the scheme are reaching people on a large scale.
Overall, the Chief Minister’s Cooking Gas Subsidy Scheme has emerged as a strong support system for women in Rajasthan, helping them reduce kitchen expenses and improve their overall quality of life.
