Madhya Pradesh’s Proposal Gets Central Approval

Madhya Pradesh’s Farmer Welfare and Agricultural Development Minister Edal Singh Kansana expressed gratitude to the Centre for approving the proposal. The state had requested permission to purchase 26.49 lakh metric tonnes of soybean, which the Government of India has now fully approved.

This approval allows the state to procure soybeans smoothly, preventing farmers from incurring losses due to falling market prices.

Ensuring Fair Prices for Farmers

Minister Kansana said that the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana aims to ensure that farmers get a fair price for their crops, even when market rates drop below the MSP. In the Kharif 2025 season, soybean prices have declined, prompting the Chief Minister, Dr Mohan Yadav, to implement the Bhavantar Yojana. This move ensures that farmers are protected from financial losses and can sell their crops at just prices.

Registration and Sale Period for Farmers

Under the scheme, farmers were registered from October 3 to October 17, 2025. A total of 9.36 lakh farmers registered, covering 22.64 lakh hectares of land.

Soybean procurement under the Bhavantar Yojana started on October 24, 2025, and will continue till January 15, 2026. Farmers can sell their soybean crop at MSP during this period.

Soybean Area and Upcoming Model Price Announcement

This year, 5.32 million hectares of land in Madhya Pradesh have been sown with soybean, producing 5.554 million metric tonnes.

The first model price for soybean purchases will be announced on November 7, 2025.

The main aim of the Bhavantar Yojana is to protect soybean farmers from market fluctuations and ensure they receive adequate compensation. This will bring relief to millions of farmers in the state.

Centre Approves Procurement Plans for Multiple States

Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has approved procurement schemes for pulses and oilseeds in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Telangana for Kharif 2025-26.

The total procurement budget for these states amounts to ₹15,095.8 crore, benefiting lakhs of farmers.

These approvals were given during a high-level virtual meeting with state agriculture ministers under the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan (PM-AASHA).
