Farmers in Uttar Pradesh have received a major relief as the state government has now allowed them to sell more than 100 quintals of wheat at Minimum Support Price (MSP) without any restriction or verification. This new decision will help increase farmers income by allowing them to sell larger quantities easily.

The government has started purchasing Rabi crops, especially wheat, at MSP across many states. This year, the MSP for wheat has been set at ₹2,425 per quintal, which is ₹150 more than last year. The purchase is being done on a large scale, and each state has its own targets to meet.
To make the process smooth and to ensure maximum benefit to farmers, the government has relaxed several rules regarding the quantity of wheat a farmer can sell.
Under the new rules in Uttar Pradesh, farmers can sell more than 100 quintals of wheat without any verification. Earlier, if a farmer wanted to sell more than this limit, verification was required. This change came after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanathdirected the Food and Logistics Department to simplify the process.
Now, farmers can sell up to 3 times the expected production, and they won’t face issues due to errors in their land or crop records. This decision is expected to bring major financial relief and improve income for wheat growers.
Previously, if there was any mistake in the farmer’s land or production records, it created issues during selling. But now, even if there is an error in the records, farmers can still sell their produce. The new rule applies to registered farmers, who can sell up to 100 quintals without any verification. For selling beyond that, verification is now simpler and faster.
To sell wheat at MSP, farmers need to register or renew their registration on the Food and Logistics Department's portal fcs.up.gov.in or through the mobile app. They need to submit basic documents like Aadhaar cards, land details, bank account information, etc.

To help farmers even more, the UP government has started mobile procurement centers. These centers are purchasing wheat directly from the farmer's homes or farms, which saves transport time and cost for the farmers.
Along with the MSP of ₹2,425 per quintal, the government is also giving an extra ₹20 per quintal to cover unloading, sieving, and cleaning charges. This will further increase the total earnings of the farmers.
A total of 6,500 procurement centers have been set up across Uttar Pradesh by agencies like the Food Department, PCF, UPPCU, and the Food Corporation of India (FCI).
These centers are open from 8 AM to 8 PM, giving farmers a 12-hour window every day to sell their wheat.
In case of any issue or inconvenience, farmers can call the toll-free number 18001800150 for assistance.
Farmers can also contact the District Food Marketing Officer, Regional Marketing Officer at Tehsil, or Block-level Marketing Officers for help.
