The Madhya Pradesh government has announced major relief for farmers by offering up to 90% subsidy on 2 to 5 HP solar pumps under the PM Kusum Yojana 2025. This move is aimed at promoting better irrigation facilities, reducing electricity usage, and increasing crop productivity. The state government has informed that the application process will start soon.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, during the Kisan Mela and Krishi Sammelan in Mandsaur, shared that a total of 32 lakh solar pumps will be provided to farmers. The scheme not only aims to make irrigation easier but also encourages self-reliant farming by enabling farmers to produce their own electricity.
If the farmers generate more electricity than needed, the government will purchase the excess power and compensate the farmers accordingly. This will help in income generation for rural agricultural households.
Farmers will receive solar pumps of 2 HP to 5 HP.
They will be granted a 90% subsidy, meaning they only need to bear 10% of the total cost.
This initiative will allow farmers to save significantly on electricity bills and ensure 24/7 water access for irrigation.
Solar energy can also be used for domestic and agricultural purposes.
Here is an overview of the market prices of solar pumps (inclusive of all taxes):
Solar Pump Type | Estimated Price Range |
