Namma Yatri's Mahila Shakti Auto Driving Program is changing the lives of women in Bengaluru by providing them with financial independence, flexibility, and respect in the workplace.

Nearly 100 female drivers have earned a total of INR 42 lakh as part of this project, which aims to make the city safer and more inclusive.

Dr Ramalinga Reddy, Karnataka's Transport Minister and Muzrai Minister, recently presided over a ceremony to recognize the program's top female drivers.

Dr. Ramalinga Reddy added, "In Karnataka, we are proud of our progressive values and inclusive spirit. By becoming auto drivers, these women are not only making a living but also redefining traditional standards. Their presence on our roadways adds a new dimension to urban mobility, creating a safer and more friendly environment for all. This project demonstrates our women's strength and perseverance, and we are devoted to assisting their journey to empowerment."

The minister also promised government aid for female drivers, such as free training programs, license assistance, and loan financing.

Training and Empowerment

Since its beginnings, the Mahila Shakti program has trained and empowered many women to become auto drivers. These drivers have collectively traveled nearly 400,000 kilometers.

The program aims to promote gender-responsive mobility, financial independence, and flexible career options for women in Bengaluru, rather than simply giving jobs.

This initiative is breaking down barriers, allowing women to make substantial contributions to the city's transportation ecology while earning respect and recognition in their communities.

Graduates are given ongoing mentorship and access to electric automobiles at low rentals, allowing them to earn, save, and eventually own their vehicles.
